Supporting TFA implementation
The African Union Commission is set out to play an important role for supporting TFA implementation at the continental level.
Some of the areas they will be working in include:
- Supporting member states of the African Union and RECs to define, coordinate and monitor implementation of Category A, B and C Commitments under the WTO TFA to support integration of Africa’s markets;
- Assisting member states of the African Union and RECs with identifying technical assistance requirements and mobilising resources in the public- and private sectors;
- Developing a continental Trade Facilitation Strategy including the BIAT Action Plan on Trade Facilitation and the WTO Bali Agreement to facilitate reporting to AU policy organs;
- Attempting to obtain observer status of the AU to the WTO.
